Minority-owned and operated Brocade Textiles is a Chicago-based, community driven studio for all fashion designers in various stages of their careers to develop and design collections in one co-working studio.
What requirements will designers need to become a Resident Designer?
Brocade Textiles welcomes all designers in the intermediate stages of their careers. Designers will need to have at least 2 years of sewing experience and knowledge in fashion design to work in the space. This space is not suitable for beginners or anyone who has not worked with industrial sewing machines.
The studio uses industry standard machines and equipment all designers will need experience with Singer, Brother, and Juki industrial machines.
We want to create a valuable creative environment to allow designers to work freely and independently. There will be refresher workshops for incoming residents to learn the studio space and house rules.
What are the requirements for Drop In designers?
We want all designers to feel welcome in the space if you are a monthly member or first time drop in. We require all non-resident designers to check-in and pay the daily fee before you have access to the space. Any notions or dress form rentals will occur additional fees.
Drop in designers will also need to have at least 1 year of experience in Fashion design.
